The Gale Publishing Company, part of Cengage Learning, has been printing educational materials for quite awhile. The company’s focus is on “research and educational publishing for public and academic libraries, schools and businesses” (Wikipedia.com). You may recognize them if you have ever used InfoTrac.
The library is adding two new direct links to the website. The first, is to the Gale Virtual Reference Library at http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/lln_pboss?db=LITRG where you will find Literature Resource Center, LitFinder, Scribners Writers, and Twayne’s Authors. The second, is for Literature Criticism Online. Go to http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/lln_pboss?db=LCO and just click on the tabs for Basic Search, Advanced Search, Browse Authors, Works, or Topics.
Technical Services manager Teresa Rice said, “The links are available to patrons in the library or outside the library from their home computers. These literary criticism articles are full text. Also there are tons of biographical articles and not just on authors. Try a sample search on practically any famous name you can think of and you will likely find quite a few articles.”
This service is very convenient. Students no longer have to travel to the Bossier Central branch to research the volumes of criticisms located there. Now they can work from home, get the same results, and save time.
All of this is free, and more, with your library card. If you would like to have a library card they are free to those who live, work, attend school, or own property in Bossier Parish.
Book it to the Bossier Libraries or go to our website at www.bossierlibrary.org to see what else we have to offer.
