BOSSIER CITY – Mr. Donn G. Thompson passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Osborn Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014, in the Chapel at Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Reinowski of Benton Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Thompson was a native of Bernice, LA and a longtime resident of Bossier City, LA. He was a member of Benton Presbyterian Church. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force. Mr. Thompson served as the Mayor of Benton during the 1970′s, was the Executive Secretary of Cypress Black Bayou Rec. District and an Independent Oil and Gas operator.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Sobolle; wife, Margaret Wallace Thompson; father, Graydon Thompson; mother, Annie W. Thompson; brother, Jack Thompson; and sister, Nelwyn Thompson Wemple. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Era Wallace Thompson; daughter, Karen Thompson; son, Richard Carl Thompson and wife, Christine Hinkle; five grandchildren, Michael Graydon Thompson, of McKinney, TX, Richard (Chad) Charles Thompson, of Shreveport, Amie Thompson Miller, of McKinney, TX, Janice Porter, of Shreveport, Jim Porter, of Blanchard; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Alice Thompson, of Shreveport.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Thompson, Chad Thompson, Mark Miller and Jim Porter; nephews, Arthur M. Wallace, III, Brian Jones and Bill Givens; and great-grandson, Cole S. Miller.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Will Maranto, M.D. and Waine Thompson, M.D.
