High school boys basketball: Playoffs start Friday

The LHSAA playoffs start Friday.

The Bossier Bearkats and Airline Vikings are hosting first-round games. The Parkway Panthers are on the road.

Bossier (21-12) begins defense of its non-select Division II state championship against No. 27 AJ Ellender (14-15) at 6:30 p.m.

In non-select Division I first-round games, No. 16 Airline (19-13) faces No. 17 East St. John (20-12) at 6, and No. 22 Parkway (17-14) visits No. 11 Walker (16-15) at 6:30.

Bossier’s opponent finished second to Vandebilt Catholic in District 7-4A. The Patriots won eight of their last 10 regular-season games.

Ellender lost in the first-round last season. 

Airline lost to East Ascension 58-55 in the first round last year. The Vikings are looking for their first playoff victory since 2012.

East St. John finished second to H.L. Bourgeois in District 7-5A. The Wildcats lost in the second round to eventual state runner-up Ruston last year.

Parkway lost to Ouachita Parish in the first round last year. The Panthers are looking for their first playoff win since 2016.

Walker reached the semifinals last season. The Wildcats fell to New Iberia 47-43 in overtime.

Walker won the District 5-5A championship.
