The Performing Arts of Bossier Parish Community College and the Cavalier Players announce the production of Fiddler on the Roof, written by Joseph Stein, with music by Jerry Bock, and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.

The dates for Fiddler on the Roof are set for March 13 through March 23 in BPCC’s Performing Arts Theatre, Building C on the BPCC campus at 6220 E. Texas Street, Bossier City.

Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, dean of Communication and Performing Arts, will direct this Tony Award-winning musical.

Viewers are drawn into the life of Tevye, a dairyman attempting to live a normal life filled with Jewish traditions in early twentieth century Russia, who is searching for appropriate husbands for his three eldest daughters – Tzeital, Hodel and Chava. In a break of tradition, his daughters refuse to accept the wishes of the matchmaker, Yente, and their father. Instead, they wish to marry men that they love. Meanwhile, Russians are instigating terrible programs against the Jewish people in Russia, until, in the end, the Jews of Anatevka are forced to leave their homes and Tevye is determined to start a better life in a new land. This is one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

In addition to Crawford’s direction of the production and music, Laura Beeman Nugent is the choreographer, Jonathon Offutt is the scenic designer, Rona Leber is the costume designer, Keith Bruce is the light designer, and Austin Jennings is the sound designer.

The cast includes David White as Tevye, Denise Dalton as Golde, Keith Bruce as Lazar Wolf, Jordan Miller as Yente/Fruma Sarah, Matthew Lorenz as Motel, Daniel Salazar as Perchek, Jesse Kortus as Fyedka, and Samantha Rogers as the Fiddler. Tevye’s daughters Tzeitl, Hodel, Chava, Sprintze, and Bielke are played by Lauren Rogers, Lari Leber, Tova Volchek, Tessa Volchek, and Layla Free respectively. The cast is rounded out by the townspeople played by Robin Carlisle, B.J. Gingles, Connor Snow, Luke Digilormo, Jamie Johnstone, Bregon Webb, George James, Jay Allen, Jakob Volchek, Ke Harper, Sam Johnson, Dalton White, Jessica Roby, Hannah Monette, Alanna Seidelman, Olivia Munn, and Jarios Courtney.

“Fiddler is a wonderful show for the whole family—a heart-warming, yet bittersweet tale of tradition that has itself become a tradition of American musical theatre,” says Crawford. “The story of Tevye and His Daughters still packs an emotional wallop for today’s audiences, and we are quite honored to be presenting it for our community.”

Show dates for Fiddler on the Roof are 7:30 pm on March 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, and 2:00 pm March 16 and 23. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for senior citizens, military, and non-BPCC students.
