The man and Bossier City police officers involved in the Thursday night fatal shooting in the 2000 block of Airline Drive have been identified.

Larry Allan Jerrils, 58, of Walker, Michigan had allegedy robbed the Payless ShoeSource store around 8 p.m., setting off a silent alarm. The officers, Andrew Nichols and Kevin Wooten, made contact with Jerrils who reportedly ran from the officers out of the store north through the parking lot and around a building.

Officials report that at that point, he turned towards the officers while brandishing a firearm. Shots were fired and Jerrils was struck by gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nichols joined the Bossier City Police Department in November of 2013 after serving two years as a law enforcement officer with another agency. Wooten has been with the Bossier City Police Department since September of 2013 after serving one year as a law enforcement officer with another agency.

Both officers are assigned to the Patrol Division and have been placed on administrative leave pending investigations by the Internal Affairs Division and Criminal Investigations Division, which are standard procedures in officer involved shootings.

The investigations remain ongoing. Further details will be released once the investigations along with a review by the Bossier Parish District Attorney’s office are complete.
