The Academy of Children’s Theatre will present the Broadway smash hit, Shrek, The Musical, Jan. 1-3, 2016, at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on the campus of Centenary College.
Performances are Jan. 1 and 2 at 7:00 p.m. and 2 and 3 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased at acttickets.info (tickets go on sale December 18th).
The show features score by Tony award winning composer Jeanine
Tesori and features a carts of 60 local performers including Ron Walsworth (Shrek), Cordara Newson (Donkey), John Bogan (Lord Farquaad), Olivia Zeagler (Princess Fiona), Cassidy Ewert and Trevor VanEaton.
The production is directed by Cynthia Hawkins Whitaker with choreography by Elizabeth Mendell Carmody and musical direction by Daniel Ley.
Ron Walsworth said: “Playing Shrek has been a rewarding experience, and it is so exciting. When I heard about this production I knew I wanted to be apart of it. The role of Shrek is so much fun but also so rewarding. It’s an honor to work with such a great cast and the ACT directors”
Cordara Newson said: “I am beyond thrilled to take on the role of Donkey! This character is really dear to my heart because he is optimistic, adventurous, and eager to shine a light on the world.
