Airline and Haughton both went undefeated in Dixie Majors play last week.

Airline defeated North Caddo, Byrd No. 1 and Benton to improve to 7-0 this summer.

Haughton, known as the Rangers in Dixie play, raised its record to 6-1 with victories over Benton, Loyola and Southwood.

Airline’s Will Goodwin had two singles in an 8-2 victory over Benton on Thursday. Jacob James and Jake Engelke had one each.

Andrew Maxey got the win and Cameron Taylor came in for the save.

Goodwin, an All-Parish selection for the Vikings last season, had hits in all three games last week.

Haughton coach Justin Ginn cited Seth Ryan, Hunter Golden, John Tomb and Sam Wallace for their efforts at the plate last week. He said Golden failed to reach base just three times and had several extra-base hits.

David Rost, Wallace and Bradley Bockhaus had wins on the mound.

In Pre-Majors play Thursday, Airline edged Benton 4-3.

Airline starter Hayden Waxley struck out seven in five innings, and Levi Holder got the save.

Austin Zickefoose went 2-for-3 with a double.

In Dixie Majors and Pre-Majors play tonight, Parkway hosts Airline, Benton hosts North Caddo, and Haughton visits Byrd.

On Tuesday, Airline hosts Evangel, Parkway hosts Byrd, Benton visits Lakeside and Haughton hosts a combined Captain Shreve/North DeSoto team.

The Louisiana Empire 16-and-under travel team, which includes several players from Bossier Parish schools, went 2-2 at a tournament in Monroe Friday and Saturday.

Benton’s Wade Grubbs went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a 7-3 victory over Akadema. Airline’s Andrew Lowe had a triple.

Benton’s Aaron Shepard went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in an 11-0 victory over Texas Prospects Red. Lowe pitched a six-inning three-hitter.

Grubbs had two hits in a loss to Marucci 16s. Benton’s Austin Beck had two, including a double, in a loss to Marucci 15s.
