Higher education institutions offering degree opportunities at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, held a consolidated Spring commencement ceremony May 23 at the Louisiana Tech University Shreveport Center in Shreveport.

The colleges and universities include the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Embry-Riddle), Louisiana Tech University, and Northwestern State University of Louisiana (NSU). Ms. Darlene Linton, Barksdale Education Services Officer, and Senior Master Sergeant Jason Hurley, Vice-president of the Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 615, served as Masters of Ceremony.

A total of 275 students earned degrees: 128 from CCAF, 19 from Embry-Riddle, 124 from Louisiana Tech, and four from NSU.

Colonel Andrew Gebara, Commander of the 2nd Bomb Wing, offered the commencement address following the posting of the colors by the Barksdale Honor Guard, the singing of the National Anthem by Mr. Phillip Allison, and the invocation from Chaplain Major Robert Schobert. CCAF degrees were conferred by Colonel Gebara and Command Chief Curtis Storms. Embry-Riddle degrees were conferred by Mr. Gregory Quails and Mr. Ricardo Rivera. Louisiana Tech degrees were conferred by Dr. Terry McConathy, Mr. Bill Willoughby, and Mr. Bob Vento. NSU degrees were conferred by Dr. Darlene Williams and Ms. Donna Johnson.

The ceremony was witnessed by a standing-room-only crowd of proud families and friends.
