Ryan Black hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to lift Parkway to a 5-4 victory over Natchitoches Central in the Minden tournament Friday.
Elsewhere, Airline downed Chalmette 4-1, Benton edged Captain Shreve 3-2 and Haughton fell to John Curtis 18-8 in the Monroe-based Trey Altick tournament.
Black’s homer to left field against Natchitoches Central broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth. It scored Caleb Reese, who had reached on an error.
The Chiefs scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Panthers (3-3) turned a double play to end the game.
Black had a huge game, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Reese had two hits and an RBI.
Starter Matthew McKee allowed three hits and no earned runs in five innings. Eric Wiliams, the fourth pitcher used by Parkway coach Rick Bryant, got the win. He pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing one hit, one run and three walks.
Cameron Taylor pitched a two-hitter as Airline improved to 5-2 with the victory over Chalmette.
Peyton Davis had three doubles and two RBI. Jarrett Bamburg had a double.
Benton pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie against Captain Shreve.
Connor Jack Smith was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a error. Cody Norris was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Hal Gatti walked to load the bases. Smith scored on Taylor Ward’s ground ball to first.
Tanner Craft and Smith had the Tigers’ only hits in the game.
Benton got a strong outing from starter Jackson Rutledge. He allowed just three hits and struck out 12 in six innings.
Noah Livers pitched the seventh and got the win. He didn’t allow a hit and struck out one.
Benton evened its record at 4-4.
Reid Wilson and Tyler Davis had two hits each in Haughton’s loss. One of Wilson’s was a double.
Kirkland Seals had a two-RBI double. The Bucs dropped to 6-2.
Bossier defeated Woodlawn 25-5 and lost to Doyline 12-2 in the North Caddo tournament.
Derrick Jones went 3-for-3 with four RBI against Woodlawn. Chase Bounds had two hits and two RBI. Omar Green and Jon-Mikal Robertson had two hits and two RBI each. Kaleb Harlow also had two hits.
Robertson pitched a five-inning one-hitter for the win.
Jones went 2-for-3 against Doyline. Bossier is 5-2 on the season.
