Benton, Haughton get sub-varsity football wins

Benton and Haughton posted sub-varsity victories Monday evening.

The Tigers defeated North DeSoto 28-6 and 26-12 in freshman and JV games, respectively. The Bucs downed Bossier 21-14 in a game that featured freshmen and sophomores.

Benton freshman Garrett Hable played quarterback in both the freshman and JV games. He threw two TD passes and ran for one TD in each.

In the freshman game, Hable connected with Hunter Burrough on a 6-yard TD. He also threw a 12-yard screen pass to Jordan Myles. Hable scored on an 11-yard run. Burrough hit Doyle Adams Jr. on a 70-yard TD.

Carter Parks kicked three PATs and Cade Festavan had an interception.

In the JV game, Hable passed 70 yards to Anthony Garcia and 15 to Ian McEntee for TDs. Josh Little scored on an 8-yard run, and Hable scored from 9 yards out. Jalen Coleman had two interceptions.

The Haughton sophomore offense scored twice in the win over Bossier. Pryce Curry ran 5 yards for a TD and passed 8 yards to David Schmidt. Lavonta Gipson scored on a 14-yard run for the freshman offense. Corbin Schmidt kicked three PATs.

Terrence Sweeney and Jacob Williams had fumble recoveries for Haughton.

Elsewhere, Plain Dealing fell to North Caddo 18-12 in a non-district game.

The Lions’ touchdowns came on a pass from Matt Sullivan to Derreon Washington and an Alex Dupree kick return.
