The Bossier All-Stars Dixie Boys (14s) and Junior Boys (13s) all-star teams opened their respective World Series tournament with victories Saturday in Pineville.

The Bossier 14s defeated host Pineville 4-1, and the 13s downed Georgia state champ Newton County 9-1.

The Bossier 14s play Arkansas champ Sevier County in the second round of the winners’ bracket Sunday night at 7. Sevier County defeated Tennessee state champ Dyersburg 8-5 in the first round.

The 13s face North Carolina champ Midland in the second round Sunday night at 7. Midland defeated Florida state champ South Sumter in its first-round game.

The double-elimination tournaments run through Thursday.

Clint Lasiter and Liam Rogers led the Bossier 13s at the plate. Lasiter went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Rogers also went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Micky Parks went 2-for-4. Hayden Knotts, Grayson Gates and Lucas McKain all had doubles. Cameron Ross had a single and an RBI. Gates also had an RBI.

Bossier starter Cody Jones allowed three hits in three innings and struck out three. Gates pitched the final four innings, allowing one hit and striking out five.
