Bossier girls win 7-8 Machine Pitch All-Star tournament opener

The Bossier All-Stars are within one victory of winning the Little League 7-8 Machine Pitch District 4 All-Star softball tournament.

Bossier defeated Blanchard in its opener Thursday evening at Clifford Almond Park. Bossier can win the title with another victory over Blanchard tonight.

Members of the Bossier team are Courtney Fisher, Tonya Henderson, Ali Morris, Kaleigh Barnstable, Aubrey Hollis, Catherine Kyle, Blanton Sawyer, Marissa Schoth, Trinitee Bruno, Laura Lee Mayfield, Kate Boltinghouse and Morgan Carroll.

At Blanchard, the Bossier National Red All-Stars made it to the winners’ bracket final of the 7-8 Boys Machine Pitch tournament before falling to Shreveport.

The Bossier National Reds will face Shreveport again if they win an elimination game tonight. The Bossier American Reds faced Blanchard late Thursday for the right to play the Bossier National Reds.

Meanwhile, the 9-10 Boys and Girls tournaments get under way today at the Bossier Little League complex. The 10-11 Boys tournament starts Saturday.

Other Bossier teams will be playing in tournaments in Blanchard and Shreveport starting Saturday.

The Dixie AAA Sub-West All-Star baseball tournament starts today at Walbrook Park with teams from Bossier, Haughton and Benton competing.

The Dixie 13-year-old All-Star baseball tournament, a three-game series between Bossier and Minden, begins Saturday night with a doubleheader at Walbrook.

The Dixie 7-8 Machine Pitch baseball tournament continues today in Minden with pool play. The field of 14 includes teams from Bossier, Benton and Haughton.

The Bossier All-Stars won twice in pool play Thursday, defeating the Shreveport Nationals and the Ruston Americans.
