(Washington, DC) – Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) applauded the men and women stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base outside of Bossier City, Louisiana, after the U.S. Air Force (USAF) deployed a B-52 Stratofortress based at Barksdale to support the American mission to combat ISIS.
The B-52 will be based in Qatar to support Operation Inherent Resolve. The aircraft was last used in combat operations during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006.
Boustany said: “Louisianans continue to answer the call to serve our country in combat. I am tremendously grateful to our men and women at Barksdale Air Force Base for stepping up in the fight against ISIS. I have no doubt the aircraft deployed to Operation Inherent Resolve will provide critical and necessary air support to destroy this terrorist regime. That’s why I will continue to be a strong supporter of the U.S. Air Force and its presence at Barksdale.”
