The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs are off to an 18-4 start.

BPCC has won its last six games. The streak started Friday with a Region XIV doubleheader sweep of Navarro College, 5-3 and 6-3, at BPCC.

The Lady Cavs then swept back-to-back non-conference doubleheaders against Coahoma Community College on Saturday and Sunday in Clarksdale, Miss.

BPCC won 10-6 and 21-0 on Saturday and 2-0 and 14-0 on Sunday.

The Lady Cavs are scheduled to play a Region XIV doubleheader against Paris Junior College on Wednesday in Paris, Texas.

BPCC and Trinity Valley have the early lead in the Region XIV East Zone Division at 2-0.

BPCC’s Elisa Favela, a freshman from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, has been outstanding at the plate and on the mound.

According to statistics on the Region XIV website, Favela is the second-leading hitter in the conference with a .507 average (minimum 2.5 plate appearances per game and played in 75 percent of team’s games). She is the home run leader with 13 and ranks third in RBI with 37.

Favela has the second-best ERA at 2.40.

BPCC’s Mae Jones (6-2), a freshman from Zavala, Texas, ranks second with a 2.06 ERA.

Galen Brooks, a freshman from Bastrop, ranks third in stolen bases with nine.

Shelrika Bryant, another freshman from Bastrop, is tied for 10th in batting average with a .418. She also has 22 RBI.

BPCC is in its second season under head coach Amanda Nordberg-Hamilton.
