Parkway won the girls’ division and finished second in the boys’ in the Clinton Arrow Cross Country Invitational on Saturday in Clinton, Miss.
Parkway senior Sara Funderburk, the defending Class 5A state champion, won the girls’ individual title, covering the 5K course in 18 minutes, 50.48 seconds. Kate Mattox of Starkville, Miss., High finished second in 18:53.78.
Parkway senior Celeste Cordova was fourth in 20:19.99. Cassidy Cummings finished 10th in 20:57.46. Other Lady Panthers in the scoring were Lindsey Hutcheson (13th, 21:16.44) and Rylie McConnell (18th, 22:01.95).
Mackenzie Langen and Carly Hanson finished 24th and 25th, respectively. There were 237 runners in the field.
Parkway finished with 43 points. Pearl (Miss.) was second with 51. Twenty-two teams competed.
Parkway scored 57 points in the 23-team boys’ division. Pearl won with 41.
Sophomore Cole Billiot led Parkway runners with a sixth-place finish in 17:00.91. Senior Jacob Hammons was eighth in 17:06.30, and Cameron Rogers 10th in 17:11.23.
Other Panthers in the scoring were Tyler Kruithof (16th, 17:48.12) and Andrew Robinson (17th, 17:48.42). David Morgan and Brencen Delacruz finished just behind them in 18th and 19th, respectively. There were 297 runners in the field.
