The Cypress Area Garden Club of Benton presented the “Beautification Award for Spring of 2014” to Margie and Mark France at 156 Byrd Circle. The Garden Club presented her with a $50 gift certificate to Jayroe’s Hardware and Garden in Benton.
Margie and Mark have lived in their home they built for 25 years. Margie was born and raised in Bossier City while Mark’s father was in the Air Force and after much travel settled locally. The Frances have one child, Melissa. Margie loves working in her yard, especially after Melissa went off to college, which gave her a lot more time to spend in the yard. When not working in her yard, Margie is at Terry’s Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc., where she is co-owner.
Her front yard is adorned with fairy roses, day lilies, iris, and many colorful annuals, along with yaupons, Indian hawthorne, pittisporum, cleyra and sasanqua.Margie has an enchanted garden especially in the back yard. Her yard is so welcoming with her beautiful flowers and southern hospitality. Margie’s backyard feels like you’re at a fabulous resort with a large pool and spa. She has beautiful statues, a marvelous potting/pool house, and four water features. Plants include azaleas, gardenias, abelias, home run and knockout roses, and a Peggy Martin rose bush.
All her flowers and plants are strategically placed. Walking in her little piece of Heaven you can find mock orange, spirea, pittisporum, sweet olive, and 6 palm trees. There are also 3 Japanese maple trees that are gorgeous. While walking in this delightful garden, you will find many bi-color irises, assorted day lilies, lily of the Nile, clematis, society garlic, and many types of annuals.
This garden displays a true labor of love to anyone who visits. The Frances take great pleasure in sharing their beautiful gardens with family, friends, and their cute little dog.
