PLAIN DEALING – Services celebrating the life of Evonne Boyd Phillips will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Church of Christ, Plain Dealing, LA. Officiating will be Waymon Swain and Bruce Ligon. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA.
The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 8 PM Monday, July 22, 2013 at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.
Evonne was born on September 5, 1935 in Plain Dealing, LA to Willie B. Boyd and Aneida Lyles Boyd. She went to be with the Lord on July, 20, 2013 in Shreveport, LA at the young age of “77”. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Larry Miller. She is survived by one daughter, Angela Phillips Vaughan and husband, Dudley whom she called her son; grandchildren, Cristin V. Cummings and husband, Jimmy of Bossier, LA, Jonathan J. Vaughan and wife, Stephanie whom she called her “Sweetie Pie” of Ivan, LA; great-grandchildren, C.J. (Christopher) Cummings and Jaycee Cummings; one sister, Patsy B. Miller; two brothers, Billy Boyd Jr. and wife, Carol, Jerry O. Boyd and wife, Carolyn, many loved nieces, nephews and cousins; two very special friends, Evelyn and Earl Brown.
Evonne retired from Kilpatrick Insurance Company after many fulfilled years of service. She enjoyed traveling, Nascar, football, wildlife and especially spending time with family. She also loved her KLIC and Rose-Neath family.
Honoring Evonne as pallbearers will be Don Lindsey, John Hensarling, Ronald Loe, Tony Tuminello, Ronnie Wynn and Pat Boggs. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Andy Shehee.
