With such a short amount of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas using tried and true recipes is one way to keep calm in the midst of the holiday rush. But if you are tired of the same ‘ole, same ‘ole, then change it up a bit. That can be fun too.

There are so many wonderful recipe books there is bound to be something to suit just about anyone’s taste. The “Betty Crocker Christmas Cookbook” editor, Lori Fox, is filled with great ideas to help you change things up as well as get you through the holidays with a survival guide and countdown calendar. “Pillsbury Family Christmas Cookbook” by The Pillsbury editors boasts “150 recipes, plus fun craft ideas.” Both are tried and true sources that almost everyone is familiar with.

“Fix-it and Forget-it Christmas Cookbook: 600 Slow Cooker Holiday Recipes” by Phyllis Pellman Good is one to fall back on if you like to come home to a warm meal after a long day of shopping.

VickieHardinThe library has a wide selection of cooking magazines to choose from, such as “Food Network Magazine,” “Every Day with Rachel Ray,” and “Taste of Home Best Loved Recipes.” There are plenty of publications with holiday decorating ideas, too.

As we race to the end of another year take time out to visit the library. Take home a few cookbooks, magazines, DVDs, or CDs. Bring the kiddos along so they can pick out their own books and movies.

Book it to the Bossier Libraries during the Christmas Season, or go online at www.bossierlibrary.org to download an audio book or eBook from Overdrive.
