The Haughton All-Stars finished runner-up in the Dixie 12 O-Zone state baseball tournament.

Haughton hung with a powerful Shreveport All-Stars team before falling 5-2 in the championship round Tuesday. Haughton would have had to defeat Shreveport twice to win the title.

Shreveport, which will represent Louisiana in the 12 O-Zone World Series in Laurel, Miss., had won every game by at least 10 runs before facing Haughton.

Members of the state runner-up team are Ryan Rimmer, Chase Keith, Jake Pieri, Logan Carmack, Jackson Voigt, Hunter Tolbert. Braden Franks, Landon Ruybal, Sergio Delgado, Jacob Hernandez, Connor Blank and Dakota Delahoussaye.

Haughton’s Ryan Rimmer hit a home run. Chase Keith started on the mound and pitched well. Jacob Hernandez came on in relief.

The score was tied at 2 in the bottom of the fourth with Sergio Delgado getting an RBI for Haughton. Shreveport’s Donald Bickham broke the deadlock with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. Shreveport starter Caden Akana pitched three innings and was relieved by Kirk Martinson.

The District 4 champion Bossier All-Stars also had a good tournament, going 2-2.

Team members are Noble Means, Hayden Smith, Kynner Miller, Nathan Fielder, Triston Hargrave, Caleb Hemmings, Steven Gilbreath, Carson Carey, Coleman Beeson, Harrison Waxley, Keegan Lehr and Dylan Procell.

Coaches are Eddie Fitzpatrick, Trey Smith and Chris Fielder.
