The Bossier Bearkats used a typical strong defensive effort to defeat the North Caddo Rebels 39-25 Tuesday in the Natchitoches City of Lights Tournament.
Bossier trailed 18-17 at the half and then outscored the Rebels 22-7 in the second. North Caddo was a Class 2A semifinalist last season.
Tybo Wimberly and Jacoby Decker led Bossier (4-1) with 12 points each. Tyrese English added 11, Chris Davenport eight and Antonio Davis six.
Bossier, the defending Class 4A state champ, faces host Natchitoches Central (2-0), the defending Class 5A state champ, Wednesday night at 7. The Chiefs have defeated Southwood 71-49 and Lake Charles College Prep 79-59 in the event.
Natchitoches Central features one of the state’s top players in senior guard Brandon Rachal, a four-year starter and LSU commit.
Bossier continues its tough early schedule Saturday. The Bearkats face 2016 Class 3A runner-up Wossman in the Paul Millsap Classic at BPCC at 7:30 p.m.
The Bossier Lady Kats fell to Ponchatoula 66-45 Tuesday in the City of Lights Tournament.
Destiny Thomas led Bossier with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Draunatika Thomas had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Bossier (3-2) plays Natchitoches Central (4-1) at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Lady Chiefs were a Class 5A semifinalist last season.
