Parkway’s Destin Meza and Airline’s Trista Quinley advanced to the state singles finals with their performances in the bi-regionals on Monday in Houma.

Meza advanced to the boys finals with a 224 average. Quinley advanced to the girls finals with a 186.5 average.

The singles finals are part of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Bowling State Championship Tournament on April 7 at the River Center in Baton Rouge.

No parish team advanced, but the No. 2 seed Parkway girls came very close.

The Lady Panthers defeated No. 7 Breaux Bridge 24-3 in the second round before falling to No. 6 Central Lafourche 14-13 with a spot in the semifinals on the line. Parkway won more individual matches but Central Lafourche got three points for more total pins and that made the difference.

It was the only match Parkway lost all season.

No. 8 Airline lost to No. 9 H.L. Bourgeois 20-7 in the first round.

In the co-ed/open (boys) division, No. 7 Airline lost to No. 10 Acadiana 18-9 and No. 11 Benton lost to Terrebonne 27-0 in the first round.

No. 1 seed Parkway fell to No. 9 Morgan City 16.5-10.5 in the second round. It was the Panthers’ lone loss this season.
