High school volleyball: Airline, Haughton, Parkway get district victories

The Airline Lady Vikings, Haughton Lady Bucs and Parkway Lady Panthers picked up district volleyball victories this week.

In District 1-I, Parkway defeated Captain Shreve 25-20, 25-7, 25-12 on Tuesday at home. The Lady Panthers then fell to Airline 25-11, 25-13, 25-14 on Wednesday at Airline.

In District 1-II games, Haughton topped Huntington 25-11, 25-4, 25-5 at home Thursday. Benton lost to Northwood 25-10, 25-23, 25-15 at Northwood on Tuesday.

Airline’s victory over Parkway was its 11th straight. The Lady Vikings improved to 21-8 overall and 9-1 in district and are tied with Ruston (32-8, 9-1) for first place with two district games left.

Zahria Lloyd had 15 assists and seven kills along with five digs, one ace and one block. Brooklyn Brandon had 12 digs and six kills to go with two aces.

Courtney Clawson had seven aces and one dig. Jaci Ervin had six kills, two blocks and one assist.

The Lady Vikings are headed to the New Iberia tournament Saturday.

Haughton improved to 19-11 and 8-0 in district with its win over Huntington. The Lady Bucs host Caddo Magnet (12-10, 7-1) Monday. If Haughton wins, the Lady Bucs are the district champs for the second straight year. Caddo Magnet can move into a tie for first with a victory.

Parkway improved to 8-17 overall with its second district victory.
