High school volleyball: Airline, Haughton win non-district games

The Airline Lady Vikings and Haughton Lady Bucs posted non-district volleyball victories Monday.

Airline defeated Many 25-7, 25-20, 25-22 at Airline. Haughton downed Captain Shreve 25-12, 25-18, 25-19 at Shreve.

Gabby Patronis had nine aces, five kills and six digs in Airline’s victory. Brooklyn Brandon had two aces, five kills and five digs.

Tori Ligman had 16 digs to go with four aces and one assist. Zahria Lloyd had a double-double with 14 digs and 11 assists. She also had four kills and one block.

Airline improved to 18-8 with its eighth straight victory. The Lady Vikings moved from No. 13 to No. 8 in the Division I power rankings after the win over Ruston last week. The Lady Bearcats remained at No. 6.

Airline resumes District 1-I play Tuesday at Captain Shreve. The Lady Vikings are tied with Ruston for the district lead at 6-1.

Arielle Emanuel had 13 kills, four aces and two digs in Haughton’s victory. Mia McWilliams had 14 assists to go with five aces.

Taylor Williams had 13 assists, three aces and one kill. Taralyn Sweeney had eight kills and one block.

Ashlyn Gilmore had seven kills and three digs. Reanna Crumpler had eight digs and one kill. Kaylee Swiger had one ace, one kill, one assist and one dig.

Hannah Borah had one ace and one kill. Amber Boggs had one assist.

Haughton (16-11), which has won six straight, resumes District 1-II play Tuesday at home against Booker T. Washington. The defending champion Lady Bucs lead the district at 6-0.

Parkway fell to Caddo Magnet in four sets in a non-district game Monday. The Lady Panthers host Natchitoches Central in a District 1-I game Tuesday.

Benton hosts Byrd in a non-district game Tuesday.
