High school volleyball: Airline shares district lead after first half of district play

The Airline Vikings are tied with defending champion Ruston after the first half of District 1, Division I volleyball play.

Airline closed the first half with a 25-7, 25-7, 25-11 road victory over Caddo Magnet Tuesday night. The Lady Vikings (10-6, 6-1) host Byrd (11-7, 5-2) tonight.

Ruston (13-6, 6-1), which defeated Northwood Tuesday, visits Caddo Magnet Thursday.

Haughton (7-4, 3-4) closed the first half Tuesday with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-23 loss to Captain Shreve (11-7, 5-2). The Lady Bucs host Booker T. Washington Thursday.

At Caddo Magnet, Ashley Haigler had nine aces, 11 assists and two digs for Airline. Haylea Patterson had seven aces, three kills and five digs. Aspen Oliver had six kills. Kaylea Noble had five aces, three kills, four blocks and three digs.
