Popular annual events including live music festivals, craft beer celebrations and a 5K run invite locals and visitors to celebrate Fourth of July in Shreveport-Bossier
As the Independence Day holiday approaches, several of Shreveport-Bossier’s most anticipated annual events prepare to welcome locals and visitors.

The KTBS-3 Independence Day Festival will be held, 2-10 p.m., in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. This free, family-friendly event will include the annual Brookshire’s Steak Cook-Off at 3:15 p.m., live music beginning at 4 p.m., a fireworks show at 10 p.m., and more. The 31st annual Sportspectrum Firecracker 5K will begin at 8 a.m. at Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport. One of Shreveport-Bossier’s largest annual 5K runs, the Firecracker 5K features a beautiful course which winds through Shreveport’s historic South Highlands neighborhood. Pre-race entertainment and a post-race party will include patriotic live music, free food and drinks for runners, and more than $2,000 in cash prizes for top finishers. Two craft breweries located in Shreveport-Bossier will host Independence Day events for ages 21 and up. Flying Heart Brewing, a craft brewery and tasting room located at 700 Barksdale Boulevard in Bossier City, will host the brewery’s inaugural Red, White and Brew Independence Day Celebration, 4-10 p.m. Red, White and Brew will include live music by The Katalyst and food from Clark’s Catering.
Great Raft Brewing, a craft brewery and tasting room located at 1251 Dalzell Street in Shreveport, will host Independents Day 2015, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Independents Day will feature live music from Seratones, Hydrogen Child, Hwy Lions and The Good News, as well as all-you-can-eat barbecue from Bohemian Pork, food trucks, brewery tours and games.
“We wanted to not only celebrate the independence of our country, but also highlight the creativity and hardworking entrepreneurs and artists in Shreveport,” said Lindsay Nations, Great Raft Brewing co-founder and vice president. “There is so much home-grown talent in Shreveport, and this event is a fun way to support our fellow business owners and introduce them to new customers.”
