BPCC HOSTS  DIVISION LEADER NAVARRO TONIGHT

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers host Region 14 North Division leader Navarro at 7 tonight.

Navarro is 16-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference. The Bulldogs are coming off a 63-60 victory over Paris Saturday.

BPCC is 8-8 overall and 1-7 in the conference. The Cavaliers defeated the Stephen F. Austin junior varsity 98-73 in a non-conference game Saturday at BPCC.

STATE HIGH SCHOOL FISHING TOURNEY SET FOR MARCH 10

The Bass Federation, in partnership with FLW and The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, announced Wednesday it will host the 2013 Student Angler Federation Louisiana High School Fishing State Championship on Sunday, March 10.

The event will be held on Caddo Lake in Oil City launching out of Earl G Williamson Park.

The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9-12. Registration for anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is online at HighSchoolFishing.org.

Students and parents can go to HighSchoolFishing.org for details on the Student Angler Federation and to sign up.

NSU LEGENDS EVENT SET FOR MARCH 10-11

NATCHITOCHES — With Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and NFL record-holding receiver Charlie Hennigan, recent NFL standouts Mike Green and Kenny Wright, former head football coach A.L. Williams and iconic athlete and coach Johnnie Emmons comprising the lineup of Northwestern State football greats, the NSU Athletic Association will host the second annual Legends Dinner and Golf Scramble presented by Critical Infrastructure Services March 10-11 at Bossier City’s Horseshoe Casino and the Shreveport Country Club.

Proceeds from the event go to the Demon Victory Fund’s initiatives to provide scholarship assistance and support to nearly 375 young men and women who represent Northwestern State in NCAA Division I athletics.

Activities will begin with a dinner at the Horseshoe Casino’s Riverdome from 6-9:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. The Legends Dinner will feature an open question and answer panel discussion with the 2013 Legends Panel of Emmons, Green, Hennigan, Williams and White.

Also attending will be last year’s Legends Panel: Pro Football Hall of Fame member Jackie Smith, College Football Hall of Fame member Gary Reasons, current Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Demetrius Bell, 17-year head coach Sam Goodwin, 12-year NFL veteran offensive lineman Marcus Spears and 7-year NFL veteran quarterback Craig Nall.

Tickets for the Legends Dinner are $40, while participants in the golf tournament will be admitted as part of their entry fee. The golf tournament is nearing capacity with 15 teams entered, leaving room for 13 more foursomes. Dinner tickets for Sunday night are also moving briskly after advance sales to Demon Victory Fund donors.

TECH MEN RECEIVE POINTS IN AP POLL

RUSTON — The Louisiana Tech men's basketball team received two points in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll released on Monday.

The Bulldogs have won eight straight to increase their overall record to 16-3 and sit atop the WAC standings with a perfect 7-0 record.

LA Tech is one of only 17 schools in NCAA Division I with at least 16 wins on the season.
