The Airline Vikings clinched a share of the District 1, Division I boys soccer title with a 3-1 victory over the Caddo Magnet Mustangs Tuesday night at Cargill Park.
The Vikings (24-2, 10-1) can win the title outright with a victory over Parkway Monday night at Tinsley Park.
Parkway defeated Southwood 3-0 Tuesday at Independence Stadium.
Airline avenged a 1-0 loss to Magnet (14-7-2, 7-2) on Dec. 10. In that game, Vikings senior star Patrick Laurent suffered a broken leg and was lost for the season.
Matt Hanisee scored the Vikings’ only goal of the first half on a header.
Chris Galvin scored to give the Vikings a 2-0 cushion with about 15 minutes left in the game.
Magnet got within one, but Will Coyer added an insurance goal for the final margin.
Hanisee and Esteban Chomet-Baides had assists.
Justin Waggoner, Lorenzo Tunek and Devon Barnes scored goals in Parkway’s victory over Southwood. The Panthers improved to 13-8-2 and 7-4.
Even if Parkway loses to Airline Monday, the Panthers have a good shot at making the playoffs as a wild-card team.
Elsewhere, the Bossier Bearkats completed District 1-III play with a 4-3 victory over Evangel.
The Bearkats (9-6-1) clinched a playoff berth, finishing second behind Loyola at 6-2.
Bakeel Waheeb scored the game-winner with four minutes left, breaking a 3-3 tie.
Mateo Martinez scored two goals, and Luis Martinez had a goal and an assist.
Bossier also defeated Evangel 4-1 last Friday.
Luis Martinez scored two goals. Bryce Culotta and Aaron Rios had one each.
The Benton boys, who finished second in District 1-II, rolled past North Caddo 6-2 in a non-district game.
Dillon Rogers had a hat trick for the Tigers (10-9). Joseph Perrett had one goal and two assists. Ethan Whitehead had a goal and an assist. William Sanguinetti also scored a goal.
Keeper Mitchell Matthews had 10 saves.
Tonight, the Benton girls can clinch a share of the District 1-II title with a victory over Northwood, a team the Lady Tigers beat 12-0 in the first round of district play.
The Lady Tigers close out district play with a doubleheader against winless Woodlawn Thursday night at Tinsley.
Elsewhere tonight, the Haughton boys play Southwood, and the Parkway girls face District 1-I champ Byrd. Both games are at Lee Hedges Stadium.
The Benton boys are scheduled to play at North DeSoto in a non-district game Thursday.
