Destination Imagination promotes teamwork

E-mail Print PDF

DI super challenge2Remember the childhood song, "Teamwork, teamwork. Everybody do your share?" Well, that certainly applies to Destination ImagiNation.

Approximately 350 students, comprising over 40 teams from Bossier Schools and six teams from other districts, had to rely on teamwork at the Destination ImagiNation Super Instant Challenge held recently at Cope Middle School.

The training event was good practice for DI teams planning to compete at the state level. Each team had to complete a series of 10 hands-on challenges designed to help students learn engineering concepts, teamwork and creative problem-solving skills. Children had to use techniques that were hands-on or performance-based.

Elementary, middle and high school students were put through the rigors without the pressure of being scored or having to compete. That will come March 9 at Airline High School, when Bossier Schools hosts the 2013 Louisiana Destination ImagiNation state competition.

Make plans now to attend if you want to see some of the most creative kids in Bossier Parish think outside the box.
