The Rusheon Rams and Benton Tigers swept their opponents in seventh- and eighth-grade boys middle school basketball action Thursday.
The host Rams downed Cope 45-34 in the seventh-grade game and 40-27 in the eighth-grade game.
Benton and Elm Grove played two hotly contested games at Elm Grove.
The Tigers seventh-grade team won 32-29. The eighth-graders won 44-42.
The Greenacres Mustangs and Haughton Bucs split games at Greenacres.
Haughton won the seventh-grade game 49-25, and Greenacres won the eighth-grade game 38-20.
At Elm Grove, the Eagles had a chance to send the seventh-grade into overtime but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Brooks Cram led Benton with 13 points. Knije Harrison scored 13 to top Elm Grove.
The Eagles also had the ball with a chance to tie or win at the end of the eighth-grade game, but the Tigers held them off.
Jon Cromer paced Benton with 11 points.
Malcolm Banks led Elm Grove with 12 points. Colton Nicholas and Dalton Meshell added 11 each.
At Rusheon, the Rams seventh-grade team took sole possession of first place in the district with the victory.
Keyshawn Jones scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Rams (3-0). Landric Watson also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jason Owens and Isaiah Wallace scored eight each.
Keldrick Carper tallied 15 points to lead the Rusheon eighth-graders, who also improved to 3-0.
Kevin Bonapart and Tony Nixon combined for 13.
At Greenacres, Mario Cook poured in 19 points and Brennon Bockhaus had 14 as the Haughton seventh-graders notched their first win of the season.
David Maxey led Greenacres with eight points, and Brian Engelke had six.
Peyton George and Coby McGee scored five points each.
Anthony Mulrenin led a balanced Greenacres eighth-grade scoring attack with 11 points.
Noah Hildebrand added nine points. Chris Davenport and Harvey Calhoun combined for 11.
Charles Harper and Colton McClain led Haughton with five points each.
Greenacres improved to 3-0. The Mustangs visit Rusheon Monday with first place on the line.
In other games Monday, Benton visits Cope and Haughton hosts Elm Grove.
