Benton, Cope, Rusheon sweep

The Benton Tigers, Cope Cougars and Rusheon Rams swept their opponents in middle school boys basketball district action Thursday.
The Tigers defeated Haughton 32-24 in the seventh-grade game and 37-15 in the eighth-grade game.
The Cougars handed Greenacres its first loss of the district season 31-30 in the eighth-grade game. The Cope seventh-graders won 46-26.
The Rams downed Elm Grove 42-25 in the eighth-grade game and 48-35 in the  seventh-grade game.
Rusheon and Greenacres share the eighth-grade lead at 4-1 through the first half of district play. Cope is a game back at 3-2.
Rusheon leads the seventh-grade district at 5-0. Cope is second at 4-1, and Benton third at 3-2.
At Benton, Doyle Adadms scored 14 points to lead the Tigers seventh-graders. J. Coleman and Cameron Robinson combined for 16.
Mario Cook topped Haughton with 10 points and Malcolm Hill had seven.
Jon Cromer made all four of his free throw attempts and scored 14 points to lead the Tigers eighth-grade team. Jessie Little and Connor Smith combined for nine.
Colton McClain paced Haughton with seven points and Dezavian Willis had five.
At Greenacres, Quillen Dixon topped the Cougars seventh-graders with 20 points. Cameron Davis chipped in with eight.
Kendall Brown led Greenacres with 10 points, and David Maxey added nine.
The eighth-grade game went down to the wire with the Cougars getting the win on a buzzer beater.
Tybron Wimberly led Cope with 13 points, and KJ Bilbo contributed nine.
Noah Hildebrand paced Greenacres with 16 points.
At Elm Grove, Keyshawn Jones continued his outstanding season for the Rusheon seventh-graders, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Isaiah Wallace added 10 points. Jason Owens had seven points, five assists and five steals.
Elm Grove’s Knije Harrison led all scorers with 22 points.
Keldrick Carper led the Rusheon eighth-grade team with 22 points. Caleb King and Randy Combs combined for 10.
Malcolm Banks topped Elm Grove with 16 points.
