image004Airline would like to congratulate the History Bowl Team on their performance at the North Louisiana History Bowl and History Bee  Saturday, Jan. 26.

Airline sent four teams to compete at the event, and they represented the school extremely well.

The A-Team of Hyein Jeong, Chase Courville, Tommy James, and Josh Brown compiled a 5-1 record in the varsity division before losing in the final to a team from Baton Rouge Magnet.

In the JV division, the C-Team of Aanan Henderson, Carter Clawson, Matt Higginbotham, and Ahbi Shah went undefeated en route to winning the JV Championship, while the D-Team of  Catherine Clayton, Jake Engelke, and Grant Henry went 3-2 before being knocked out in the semi-finals.

The B-Team of Sarah Lawhorne, Lisa Wise, and John Szwak also competed at the varsity level, and while they didn't make the playoffs, we're proud of how they stepped up and competed with class.

In the individual History Bee competition, Chase Courville and Tommy James both made it to the Final Four of the varsity division.  And in the JV division, Airline accounted for three of the Final Four contestants as Aanan Henderson won the individual championship (as a freshman), Matt Higginbotham came in 2nd, and Carter Clawson came in 3rd.

Three teams qualified for Nationals in Washington DC this April, as did all five of the individual contestants who made it to the Final Fours of the Bee competitions.
