
Airline’s Jack Wilkes and Jasmyn Carswell, and Parkway’s Alison Ringle won state titles at the LHSAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at LSU.
Wilkes won the Division I boys 800-meter run with a time of 1 minute, 57.37 seconds. That was almost two seconds faster than runner-up Matthew Rhorer of Catholic-Baton Rouge (1:59.22).
Carswell won the Division I girls triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 4.25 inches — 9.25 inches better than runner-up Destini Lemalle of Salmen.
Carswell got the 37-4.25 on her fifth jump. She went 37 feet on her sixth.
Ringle won the Division I girls 1,600 in 5:18.10. Mia Meydrich of Dominican was second in 5:19.21.
The state titles are the first for all three athletes.
Ringle has come close before. She finished runner-up in the Class 4A state cross country meet two years ago as a freshman and second in the 5A meet last fall.
She was also runner-up in the 1,600 and 3,200 in the outdoor state meet last spring.
Ringle also helped Parkway finish fifth in the 4X800 relay. She teamed with Jessica McGuffee, Jayni Wilcher and Sara Funderburk for a 10:27.92.
Parkway’s Taylor Bazo finished sixth in the boys 3,200 in 4:39.27.
Haughton’s Micah Larkins finished seventh in the Division I boys 55 in 6.56.
Airline’s Cameron Rice was eighth in the boys high jump with a 6-0.
Parkway’s Lucas Moncla was 12th in the boys 3,200. Parkway’s Cassidy Cummings and Rylie McConnell finished 14th and 15th, respectively, in the girls 3,200.
The outdoor season begins Thursday with the Shamocus Patton Memorial Benton Tiger Relays, sponsored by the Bossier Federal Credit Union.
Teams scheduled to compete are Airline, Bossier, Parkway, Haughton, Captain Shreve, Natchitoches Central, Ouachita, West Monroe, Ouachita Christian, Minden, Cedar Creek, Lakeside and Pineville.
