Haughton senior pitcher and third baseman Josh Walker has been named the MVP on the All-District 1-5A baseball team selected by the district’s coaches.
Walker was 9-3 with a 2.02 ERA. He had 84 strikeouts in 83 1-3 innings. Walker batted .378 with a team-high 31 RBIs.
Haughton wen 10-5 in district play and shared second place with Byrd. Captain Shreve won the title at 13-2.
Six other Bossier Parish players made the first team.
Airline had four selections — senior pitcher Landon Lewis, senior shortstop Dalton Gould, senior outfielder Colton Kyle and junior utility Will Goodwin.
Lewis, 8-2 overall, was 3-1 in district play with a 1.45 ERA. Gould batted .286 in district play and had five doubles and 11 RBIs. Kyle batted .383 with 15 RBIs. Goodwin batted .292 with 10 RBIs.
Haughton had two first-team selections — third baseman Logan McHan and utility John Tomb.
McHan batted .324 with 18 RBIs for the full season. Tomb had 20 RBIs and a .319 average.
McHan was also named to the second team as a pitcher.
Other parish players named to the second team were Parkway senior catcher Clay Carroll, Haughton senior outfielder Matthew Anthony, Airline sophomore outfielder Jacob James, Parkway junior outfielder Dylan Whaley and Haughton sophomore designated hitter Seth Ryan.
Captain Shreve senior Fielding Matkins was named Pitcher of the Year. Matkins was 7-1 overall with a 2.45 ERA.
Captain Shreve’s Todd Sharp was named Coach of the Year.
