BOSSIER CITY - Philip Recchia, 83, went peacefully to be with his Lord on May 7, 2013 at the Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Bossier City, LA. Born on December 9, 1929 in Raritan, New Jersey, Philip later served his country honorably as a United States Marine in the Korean War and remained faithful to his military service for twenty years.
Philip was preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother, and two sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Rosalie Recchia, sons, David (Karen) and Phillip (Eri), granddaughters, Amanda Oswalt (Brandon) and Lauren Nunnery (Neil), grandson, John Mason, and four great grandchildren, Maddie Oswalt, Faith Ingles, Logan Ingles, and Jude Mason. Also surviving Philip are his sisters, Virginia Donofrio and Angelina Dorsi, and several nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will immediately follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the LA War Veteran's Home or to a charity of the donor's choice.
