HAUGHTON – Barbara Jean “Ms. Barbara” Lane died peacefully in Bossier City on June 23, 2015 at the age of 81.
A celebration of life is scheduled at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 27, 2015 with visitation at 9:00 AM and Service at 10:00 AM. Brother Gevan Spinney will be officiating the ceremony with music by Brother Scotty and Melinda Gibson.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, William J. “Bill” Lane; sons, Ricky (Betty) of Homer LA, Ronny of Phoenix AZ, Terry (Kay) of Haughton LA, and Steve (Toni) of Katy TX and twin sister Betty Cole of Zephyrhills FL. She leaves a legacy of 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Dean Lane, parents Irving Berggren and Glendora Russell Berggren, and sister Marilyn Tisdale.
Barbara was born on April 23, 1934 in Ithaca NY. She married her “Airman”, William Lane on June 28, 1952. She was totally committed to her Christian faith, her husband, her family, and her country. Her husband, sons, and grandchildren account for over 75 years of military service – testament of a commitment she fostered to the end and a legacy that continues today.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church Haughton since 1965, and was active in various Veterans’ Services throughout Shreveport and Bossier City.
Pallbearers are Randy Lane, T. Michael Lane, Nathanael Flader, and Will Lane. Honorary pallbearers are Disabled American’s Veterans Chapter 30, Bill Collins Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church Haughton, Kenny Moreland, Russell Sims, and Barney Harrison.
