PRINCETON – Celebration of life services for Lawanda Brockwell Evans, 74, will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with pastor, Kay Gilbert officiating. There will be a gathering for friends and family from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Lawanda was born on February 15, 1940 and passed away June 30, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferrell and Mable Brockwell; her husband of 40 years, Al Evans; brother, Harold Brockwell. Left to cherish her memory is her son, John Evans of Princeton.
Lawanda was born in Lake Village, Arkansas and moved to Shreveport to attend Business College. Once she completed her degree, she started her life long career in the Insurance Industry. She retired as a commercial underwriter from Interstate insurance after 22 years.
She was a devoted Christian and a member of Belle Park Baptist Church in Bellevue and loved being with her Silver Thread ladies. Lawanda had a beautiful soul and her smile and laughter always lit up a room. She loved her family unconditionally and was always there to help out or give a shoulder to lean on. She was truly an angel to everyone she met. To those who knew and loved her, she was simply known as “Hazel” for her sweet heart and loving smile.
Lawanda lived in Princeton for 32 years and was always happy taking care of her “little farm, her animals and John”. It was truly heaven on earth spending the time camping, traveling and going on cruises with her son and best friend. They had a special bond and anyone who knew her, knew that her life revolved around John and the good times they shared.
She was blessed to have special angels in her life that she loved with all her heart Margie Morgan, Libby Nelson, Donna Flint and Debbie Schwietzer.
