Airline swept Southwood in District 1, Division I high school soccer action Monday night.
The Vikings won 8-0 and the Lady Vikings won 7-0 at Cargill Park.
Elsewhere, Parkway and Haughton split District 1, Division II games. Benton also split with Captain Shreve.
The Haughton boys 1-0 and the Parkway girls won 8-0. The Benton girls won 3-1 and the boys lost 3-0.
Parkway (22-5-1, 6-0) can clinch the District 1, Division II girls title with a win over Benton Tuesday night. Benton (11-5-1, 6-1) can move into a virtual tie for first with an upset.
Mary Catherine Wright scored two goals in the Airline girls’ win. Presley Nelson had one goal and one assist. Haylie Travis, Ashley Hein, Caroline Olson and Jamie Sparkman also scored.
Gabe Rodriguez, Gin Pau and Garyn Simons scored two goals each in the Airline boys’ win. Mang Tung and Noah Sheth scored one each.
Rodriguez had two assists. Tung, Pau and Keaton Love had one assist each.
Braylin Shaffer scored two goals, including one on a penalty kick, in the Benton girls’ win. Abby Lauterbach also had a goal. Seniors Lauterbach, Signe Sandstrom, Addie Hays and Aidan Flood were recognized on Senior Night.
The Benton boys finished 6-2 in District 1, Division II and will likely finish second behind Shreve. The Gators (6-0 district), ranked No. 2 in the latest LHSAA power rankings, have two more district games but are heavily favored in both.
The Haughton boys finished the regular season 4-8 with their win over Parkway. Blake Wasserman scored the goal with an assist from Nico Broadway. David Smith, Tristan Frisk and Sean Godfrey played well defensively, coach Kyle Wilkerson said.
