Prep volleyball: Airline finishes tied for 3rd in District 1; Haughton defeats Magnet in finale

The Airline Lady Vikings closed the 2015 volleyball season with a four-set loss to to Byrd Thursday. The Haughton Lady Bucs closed their season with a straight sets victory over Caddo Magnet.

Airline lost the first two sets 25-21 and 25-18 before rallying to take the third 25-22. Byrd won the fourth 25-19 to close the match.

Airline finished 11-17 overall and 9-5 in District 1, Division I. The Lady Vikings and Captain Shreve tied for third.

Haughton, which defeated Magnet 25-15, 25-12, 25-11, finished 12-12 and 5-9. Byrd improved to 12-2 and will represent District 1 in the playoffs along with champion Ruston.

Airline’s Courtney Riede had 36 digs against Byrd. Haylea Patterson had four aces, two kills and 29 digs. Shelbi Chadick had six aces, 15 kills and 28 digs.

Airline swept the freshman and junior varsity games.

The freshman team went undefeated and the JV team lost just one game.
