The Parkway Lady Panthers improved to 5-0 in District 1-5A with an 8-5 victory over Caddo Magnet on Wednesday at Parkway.
Caddo Magnet jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 2.5 innings, but the Lady Panthers tied it with two runs in the bottom of the third. Parkway added two runs in fourth and two in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-2.
The Lady Mustangs made things interesting in the sixth, scoring three to cut the lead to one. But the Lady Panthers answered with two of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Alexis Rayborn led Parkway at the plate, going 3-for-3. Lindsey Hutcheson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Rebecca Lynch also had two hits and a double.
Parkway starter Allie Hunt allowed six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Samantha Guile pitched no-hit ball in 1 1/3 innings of strong relief, striking out three.
Parkway is scheduled to host Southwood on Thursday. The Lady Panthers are hosting the Dana B. Coya Memorial Tournament Friday and Saturday.
The tournament is named after the former Parkway star Dana Bailey Coya, who died of cancer on Oct. 27. Parkway’s field has also been named in her honor.
Airline and Benton are scheduled to play a makeup game Thursday evening at Benton.
