Three Bossier Parish teams are scheduled to play first-round boys basketball playoff games Friday night.
The Parkway Panthers, seeded No. 22 in Class 5A, travel to Raceland in Southland Louisiana for a 7:30 game against Central Lafourche.
The Bossier Bearkats, seeded No. 15 in Class 3A, host No. 18 Pine Prairie. The Plain Dealing Lions, seeded No. 11 in Class 1A, host No. 22 Hanson Memorial. Both games are set to tip off at 6:30.
Parkway (23-8), which finished second in District 1-5A, will be making its first playoff appearance since 2006. The Panthers are in the Class 5A playoffs for the first time ever after moving up from 4A in 2011-12.
Central Lafourche is 24-5. The Trojans won the District 7-5A championship with a 12-2 mark.
Bossier (14-11), which shared the District 1-3A title with Evangel, has reached at least the semifinals of the playoffs six straight seasons.
The Bearkats’ road back to the semifinals and the Top 28 could be a little tougher than usual. If Bossier beats Pine Prairie, the Bearkats will likely have to play No. 2 seed Rayville (27-2) in the second round.
Pine Prairie (26-4) won the 5-3A title with a 9-1 record. The Panthers’ only loss in district play was 63-31 to Ville Platte. Pine Prairie defeated Ville Platte 94-85 in the teams’ first district meeting.
Plain Dealing (18-10) finished second in District 1-1A behind Arcadia, the No. 2 seed. Hanson (15-11) finished fourth in District 7-1A
