Soccer: Parkway girls pick up district victory; Benton boys down Bossier

The Parkway girls and Benton boys posted shutout victories in high school soccer action Monday night at Tinsley Park.

Sara Funderburk had a hat trick as the Lady Panthers shut out Haughton 4-0 in a District 1-I game.

Will Sanguinetti also scored three goals in Benton’s 5-0 win over Bossier.

Miranda Scotten had a goal and an assist for Parkway (4-2-2, 3-1). Ali Kelly had an assist.

Sanguinetti also had an assist for Benton (3-2-2). Carter Parks and Sergio Gomez scored goals. Gomez also had two assists. Dylan Grimes had one assist.

Haughton coach Russell Melton said Taylor Breed, Hannah Logan, Lauren Tompkins and Tori Lunsford all played tough defense. The Lady Bucs dropped to 4-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in district.

In a boys District 1-I game last week, Airline fell to Byrd 7-2 at Byrd.
Mung Tang scored both of the Vikings’ goals and Gabe Rodriguez had an assist. Airline is 6-3 overall and 2-2 in district.

The Airline girls fell to defending district champ Byrd 5-0. Airline fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in district.

In a non-district boys game at Cargill Tuesday, Bossier fell to Southwood 3-2.

In a non-district girls game at Tinsley, Haughton blanked Bossier 8-0.
Ciara White score four goals to lead the Lady Bucs. Breed, Logan, Genet Leist and Parker McClung scored one apiece.

In a District 1-1 boys game at Tinsley Wednesday, Parkway downed Haughton 3-1.

Parkway improved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in district. Haughton dropped to 2-6 and 1-4.
