Event will feature navigational competitions, balloon glows, live music and fireworks at festival site
SHREVEPORT, LA – The 2016 Red River Balloon Rally will be held in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana, July 14-20, on the campus of Louisiana State University in Shreveport.
The event will feature the U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championship as well as a festival site including live music, fireworks shows, balloon glows, tethered balloon rides, vendors and more.
Entertainment at the festival site will include performances by Christian artist Phil Wickham at 7:15 p.m. and Rend Collective at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15 and country artists Southern Roots at 7:15 p.m. and Thompson Square at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 16.
Fireworks shows by Durr’s Pyromania will be held at 9:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Balloon glows will be held at the festival site at 8:50 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are $8 if purchased in advance and may be purchased at participating Super 1 Foods and Brookshire’s stores beginning on June 15. Tickets at the gate are $10 for ages 18 and up, $8 ages 6-17, $8 active military with ID, and free for ages 5 and under. A special group night will be held on Friday, July 15, with groups of 10 or more who purchase tickets in advance receiving discounted admission and two free group leader tickets.

On Sunday night, July 17, DeSoto Parish will host “Balloons Over DeSoto” in Mansfield, Louisiana at the C.E. “Rusty” Williams Airport. All 2016 Red River Balloon Rally events are subject to change without notice and are dependent upon prevailing weather conditions. Competitive flights taking place on Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will not necessarily be seen at the festival site, but will take place over the Cities of Shreveport and Bossier City and parts of Bossier and Caddo parishes. Saturday and Sunday morning competition flights can be seen at LSUS starting at 6:30 a.m. Each morning the flight launch and targets will be determined based on prevailing winds.
