The Town of Haughton has been awarded $1,380,626 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Fiscal Year 2025, according to an announcement made on the town’s official Facebook page.
Mayor Timms shared the news, highlighting that the funding will support critical sewer system improvements on the south side of Haughton. The project aims to address key infrastructure needs and is seen as a major step forward in preparing the town for future growth and development.
“These improvements are essential to Haughton’s future,” said Mayor Timms in the post. “We’re committed to ensuring our infrastructure keeps pace with the needs of our residents.”
The funding comes as part of the state’s CDBG program, which supports essential public infrastructure projects in eligible communities across Louisiana.
Mayor Timms extended a special thank you to The Coordinating & Development Corporation for their assistance in securing the funds and helping guide the town through the application process.
The planned sewer upgrades are expected to improve wastewater management, increase system capacity, and enhance environmental safety for residents in the affected areas.
Project timelines and additional details will be released by the town as development progresses.
