High school wrestling: Benton girls win, boys finish runner-up in David Beeson Memorial Tournament

Benton won the girls division and finished runner-up in the boys in the David Beeson Memorial Tournament Saturday at Bossier.

The boys tournament was tight. Benton scored 161.5 points. Byrd won with 165.5. El Dorado, Ark., was third with 151 followed by Haughton with 124.5 and Bossier with 113.

Benton scored 40.5 points in the girls tournament. Haughton had 27, Caddo Magnet 24 and Parkway 17.5.

Three Benton wrestlers won individual titles in the boys tournament — David Luke Verhalen (106 pounds), Cayden Brammer (157) and Braden Jennings (175).

Haughton’s Will Haun (138) and Ben Beaudean  (215) also won.

Bossier’s Jeshua Logan won the 285-pound class.

Three Benton wrestlers posted runner-up finishes —  Kannon Henry (113), Colton Luther (132) and Trapper Scott (138).

Three Haughton wrestlers finished runner-up — Jaxsen Carroll (106), Westin Allen (126) and Ja’Caleb Caldwell.

Three Bossier wrestlers also finished runner-up — Brennan Francis (144), Michael Thomas (165) and Noah Trejo-Monroy (175).

Third-place finishers from parish schools were Parkway’s Matthew Jones (106), Parkway’s Mason Pollack (113), Parkway’s Jude Flint (119), Haughton’s Lane Beaudean (132), Bossier’s Josiah Rachel (144), Bossier’s Jaylen James (150), Benton’s David Perkins (165) and Benton’s Preston Lott (190).

Benton’s Caylee Brammer (120), Audrina Wade (132), Keira Liesch (138) and Avery Teutsch (145) won individual titles in the girls tournament.

Parkway’s Ashlyn Coffey (107), and  Haughton’s Darbi Karnowski and Destiny Lollar (185) also won their respective weight classes.

Runners-up from parish schools were Haughton’s Adelynn Miles (120), Benton’s Emma Luther (132), Parkway’s Chevelle Durel (145), Haughton’s Riley Fisher (185) and Parkway’s Annagrace Snyder.

Third-place finishers were Haughton’s Ana Gill (107), Benton’s Allanah Gallagher (114), Haughton’s Jeiana Kent (138), Benton’s Madison Wiethaupt (152) and Bossier’s Naiya’Dru Aweau (185).
