Sheriff Julian Whittington and the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to
commend our community for heeding the warnings of authorities by minimizing
travel this morning during the inclement weather. Thanks to your cooperation,
there have been very few traffic issues across the parish.
At this time, the only roadway closure out in the parish is the preemptive closing of
Highway 154 over the Lake Bistineau Dam, which was done out of an abundance
of caution.
Sheriff Whittington said, “For the most part, our citizens did exactly what we have
asked, stayed home and off the roads, and that decision helped keep everyone safe.
We are proud of our community for looking out for one another during this time of
dangerous driving conditions.”
For those who may need assistance during this weather event, warming centers are
available in emergency situations at the following locations:
- Stonewall Baptist Church, 807 Eatman Street, Bossier City
- Shady Grove Recreation Center, 3949 Wayne Street, Bossier City
- Viking Drive Substation, 2510 Viking Drive, Bossier City
- Re-entry Building, 181 McCauley Drive, Plain Dealing, LA
- Sheriff Whittington also urges residents to remain cautious. “Conditions will
continue to be treacherous throughout the evening and into tomorrow. If you don’t
have to be on the road, please stay home.” - As always, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office will be responding to calls 24/7. For
assistance call (318) 965-2203.
