Coronary artery disease is a widespread and serious condition, affecting 1 in 20 adults age 20 and older. But many
people don’t know they have the disease until they have chest pain or heart attack. Plaque buildup in the inner walls of
the coronary arteries is often the cause. A coronary calcium scan is the most accurate screening tool for detecting
calcium deposits in the coronary arteries, determining your level of risk for heart attack, and making better decisions
about treatment and medications.

Beginning in February, which is Heart Month, Willis Knighton Health, in support of Willis Knighton Heart & Vascular
Institute, will offer special pricing for the scan. Charge for the procedure is $25, and the radiologist reading fee is $25, for
a total of $50. The 10-minute non-invasive procedure tells your doctor if you’re at increased risk, combining a CT scan
with an EKG to identify whether calcium deposits are present in the arteries of your heart.

Coronary calcium scans will be offered at Willis Knighton North, Pierremont and Bossier. Limited appointments are
available Monday through Saturday in February and a referral from a physician is required.

To schedule a scan, contact your primary care doctor or cardiologist. If you need a cardiologist, you may contact Willis
Knighton Pierremont Cardiology at (318) 212-3858 or Willis Knighton Cardiology at (318) 631-6400.
