The Haughton Bucs rallied for a 9-8 victory over Loyola Tuesday night at Haughton,
In a pitchers’ duel, Benton fell to Cedar Creek 2-0 in Ruston. Airline lost to Ruston 12-2 at Airline.
Elsewhere, Bossier fell to Homer 20-10 at Homer and Plain Dealing dropped a doubleheader to Simsboro at Simsboro.
At Haughton, the game was tied at 6 after four innings. Loyola scored one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
The Bucs tied it with two in the sixth then won it with one in the seventh.
Bryce Benoit led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and was replaced by pinch runner Greyson Johnson, who moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by CT Woodard.
Johnson reached third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.
In Haughton’s sixth, leadoff batter Seth Breen walked and Seth Jorstad followed with a double. Maddox Williams’ single scored Breen. Jorstad scored the tying run on Russ Barrett’s sacrifice fly.
Williams went 3-for-3. Carson Plant went 2-for-2 with two RBi. Jorstad went 2-for-3 with a double and triple.
Benoit took the mound with two outs in the top of the seventh and runners at first and second. He induced a groundout and got the win. The Bucs used four pitchers.
Haughton (6-4) begins a three-game series against Northwood Thursday at Northwood at 6.
Loyola dropped to 6-3.
At Cedar Creek, both the Tigers and Cougars got outstanding pitching performances.
Benton starter Cole Snell allowed two hits, struck out nine and walked four in four innings.
Cedar Creek’s Kade Luker pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Benton (8-2) returns to action Friday in the Texas High tournament. Cedar Creek improved to 5-2.
At Airline, the Vikings had five hits. Leo Heng had a double.
Airline (3-7) visits Minden Thursday at 7. The game is part of the Lakeside tournament. Ruston improved to 5-4.
At Homer, Jaylen James went 3-for-4. Laurynzoe Sampson had a double and three RBI. Tre Lindsey had two RBI.
Bossier (1-5) visits Converse Thursday at 5.
