The Bossier Bearkats and Parkway Panthers seek quarterfinal berths as the LHSAA playoffs resume Tuesday night.
In a non-select Division II second-round game, No. 4 seed Bossier (20-9) hosts No. 13 Assumption (23-9) at 6:30.
In a non-select Division I second-round game, No. 23 Parkway (14-15) visits No. 7 Sulphur (28-4) at 6:30.
District 1-4A champion Bossier hasn’t played since falling to select Division III No. 1 seed Calvary Baptist on Feb. 21.
The Bearkats are looking for their eight straight quarterfinal appearance. Bossier was the state runner-up last season.
The Bearkats haven’t relied on just one or two players this season. Junior Ron Dillard, sophomore DT Thomas, senior Braylon Robinson, junior Ethan Dodson, junior JD Davis, sophomore Montrevell Lewis and junior TJ Bunnery have all stepped up.
Assumption is a member of District 8-4A. The Mustangs went 0-4 in district but won their final two regular-season games. Three of Assumption’s district opponents are still in the playoffs.
Parkway is aiming for its second straight upset. The Panthers defeated No. 10 Slidell 74-70 in overtime in the first round.
Like Bossier, Parkway has gotten contributions from several players. Senior guards Kaleb Williams and Caleb Evans are scoring leaders. Senior forward Antonio Gladney and junior forward Tristan Sedberry have also played well.
Parkway is in the second round for the second year in a row. The Panthers lost to No. 2 seed and eventual runner-up Central last year.
Sulphur defeated No. 26 Benton 54-28 in the first round. The District 3-5A champion Tors have won16 in a row.
Sulphur is seeking its second straight quarterfinal berth. The Tors lost to eventual champion Zachary 78-62 in the quarterfinals last year.
