High school softball: Parkway, PCA win

The Parkway Lady Panthers and Providence Classical Academy Lady Knights posted victories Thursday.

Parkway defeated Minden 16-11 at Parkway, and PCA defeated Ringgold 16-9 at Ringgold.

Elsewhere, Benton fell to D’Arbonne Woods 8-0 at Benton and Haughton lost to Stanley 7-3 at Haughton.

At Parkway, the Lady Panthers led 10-8 through four innings then scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth,

Eight Parkway players combined for 11 hits. Izzy Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Maci Paul went 2-for-4.

Madison Menard had two hits. Zoey Horn had three RBI. Horn and Katie Giovengo both had one hit and drew two walks. 

Parkway (6-5) is scheduled to play in the ASH tournament which begins Friday in Alexandria . Minden dropped to 4-3.

At Benton, D’Arbonne Woods’ Aubry Zachry pitched a two-hitter.

Emma Holmes and Bayleigh Moniz had Benton’s hits.

Benton is scheduled to play in the ASH tournament. D’Arbonne Woods, the select Division III runner-up last season, improved to 4-0.

At Haughton, the Lady Bucs had four hits. Presley Yerby went 2-for-3 with a double. Skylar Hogan drew three walks and had a double. Avery Smith had a double. Charlee Prothro struck out 10.

Haughton (5-5) is scheduled to play Alexandria Friday at 5 in the ASH tournament. Stanley improved to 7-1.

At Ringgold, PCA improved to 4-2. Ringgold dropped to 0-3.
