High school softball: Four parish teams get district wins

Four parish teams won district games Tuesday.

In District 1-5A, the Airline Lady Vikings defeated Captain Shreve 8-3 at Airline, the Haughton Lady Bucs defeated Huntington by forfeit and the Parkway Lady Panthers defeated Byrd 11-8 at Parkway. In the other 1-5A game, Natchitoches Central improved to 5-0 in district with an 11-1 victory over Evangel Christian.

In District 1-1A, Plain Dealing downed Ringgold 17-6 at Plain Dealing.

At Airline, Taylor Smith pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts and five walks.

Madalynn Shortridge went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Haley Whiteside and Tanesciya Thomas both went 2-for-4 with one double each. 

Ainsley Jones had a triple. Smith had a double.

Airline (11-6, 2-1) visits Benton Thursday at 6. Captain Shreve dropped to 10-12 and 1-4.

At Parkway, Katie Giovengo and Addison McCall both went 2-for-3. Zoey Horn had two RBI.

Macee Thompson struck out four in four innings. Giovengo allowed one hit, struck out five and walked two in three innings.

Parkway (9-8, 1-3) visits Captain Shreve Thursday at 6. Byrd dropped to 3-10 and 1-2.

Haughton improved to 11-11 and 4-1. The Lady Bucs are scheduled to play in the Quitman tournament later this week.

At Plain Dealing, Ravin West went 4-for-5. Alainah Brooks went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Brianna Newton went 3-for-4 with three RBI. 

Nevaeh Fisk and Sanaa Lyles had two hits each. Sophie Green struck out 13.

Plain Dealing (11-3) hosts Southwood Thursday at 5.
